We urge Superintendent Phil Long to support safe classrooms and oppose firearms on school property.
Last fall the Oregon Court of Appeals invalidated regulations that prohibited concealed weapons on Oregon public university campuses, and shortly after that, the Newberg School District changed its policy similarly, due to pressure from gun-rights extremists. Recently, the Oregon Board of Higher Education reasserted its authority as proprieters of university property and employers to issue a new policy governing concealed weapons.
We are asking Dr. Long to support similar measures and oppose firearms in schools. The students, faculty, and staff of our schools deserve safe learning environments.
Sign below to show that the people of the Medford School District care about keeping guns out of our schools.

Superintendent Long,
I, like you, care about the safety of the students, faculty, and staff of our public schools.
I am asking you to formally commit to oppose guns in schools.
Thank you for your leadership.
